On New Year’s Eve the girls donned their pajamas and pulled their mattresses down to the dining room for slumber party número dos. The festivities began with a make-up exposition using Tía Marcela’s extensive collection of eye shadows, blush, and other beautifying accessories. The girls loved it.

The rest of the night was filled with watching fireworks from the balcony, the popular Brazilian telenovela Avenida Brasil, dancing, and trying not to fall asleep for fear of getting our faces painted. I was not alone in waking up to a cute butterfly being drawn on my cheek.

Bleary-eyed but content, we welcomed in the New Year with a breakfast of banana pancakes and hot chocolate for breakfast. Wishing all of our friends a happy New Year!!
