We began last week with Lily’s 2nd birthday celebration! After nap time, all the Pedacito del Cielo kids changed into their party clothes and the festivities began. There was jello and cake, party bags and a pinata to celebrate! I love how all the kids and tias take part in the birthday celebrations–singing and wishing the birthday boy or girl a happy day, taking pictures, dressing up, and even dancing. And, the little ones are filled with excitement for the cake, and the pinata. We all hope Lily has a wonderful second year full of love and happiness!

And, the volunteers and I ended the week with a fun outing with the older girls from Corazon del Pastor! We began the night at Strike, the local bowling alley. Initially, the girls were shy and hesitant to play. But, as the game went on, there were tons of laughs and smiles!, and even a little competition! This is my favorite part of spending time with the girls–to see them try new things, and have fun! After working up an appetite during the game, we got hamburgers. This was definitely one of my favorite nights!

I cannot express how much love and happiness the children (and staff) of Ninos con Valor bring to my life. It is the birthday celebrations and outings with the girls, trips to the park and watching movies that have changed me forever!
