Hello! My name is Raquel. I am 7 years old, and I love playing outdoor games, especially tag because I am a fast runner and enjoy catching people. I dream of becoming a policewoman so I can fight against crime and help people in need. The people who inspire me the most are my caregivers because they keep me safe, care for me, and are always there when I need them.

Hello! My name is Wendy. I am 6 years old and I love playing dodgeball because I like running away from the ball and moving around a lot. The person that inspires me and whom I like the most right now is my big sister Allison. She helps me do my homework and comforts me. I would like to be a doctor one day and cure anyone that is sick, especially my sisters.

My big sister Serafina inspires me because she is very smart and good at school. She also tells me what I am doing well and helps me when I need her. When I am big, I would like to be a veterinarian because I love animals and want to take care of them and help them when they are sick.”

The caregivers and my younger siblings motivate me to work to accomplish my goals. I haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up yet. I’m thinking about criminology, medicine, and audio visual engineering. They all seem like very interesting careers.”

They both help me when I am having a difficult day at school or when I am having trouble with homework. I would like to someday be a teacher, to teach other kids and give out homework. Hello! My name is Ramiro. I am 10 years old and my favorite pastimes are helping my caregivers with whatever they need and playing “Sol y Hielo,” because it is fun freezing and unfreezing my friends. My caregivers inspire me because they teach me values and love me with all of their hearts. I would like to be a teacher when I grow up, so that I can teach children the values I am learning from my caregivers and teachers.”

She believes in me and motivates me to learn and do my best. I’m also inspired by my school friends who treat me well. I want to continue studying gastronomy because I enjoy preparing food and am good at it.”
Background: Manuel has a hearing impairment which has prevented him from moving out of the home yet. His goal is to gain more independence and eventually move out to live with his older brother or in a supportive environment.

Hello! My name is Timoteo. I am 21 years old.” Although Timoteo is over 18, he continues to live at our NCV home due to his developmental disability and the need for some additional support. He is highly independent and contributes meaningfully to our community by working part-time in our kitchen, helping with food preparation and cooking meals. Timoteo is also pursuing further education and remains hopeful about securing an inclusive employment opportunity in the future. His resilience and determination are a true inspiration.
